Uber has officially ended its ride hailing operations in Nigeria and Uganda after 12 years in both markets. The tech giant pulled out as part of a global restructuring that included cutting 3,300 corporate jobs and shifting focus toward investing over $10 billion into autonomous robotaxis. 

While Uber retains operations in Egypt, Ghana, Kenya, and South Africa, operating in Nigeria had become increasingly tough. Rising fuel costs, high inflation, currency volatility, and driver friction over fares and commission rates which led to a coordinated driver strike earlier this year heavily squeezed platform margins. With Uber providing a 21 day grace period for account support and data requests, local and regional platforms like Bolt and inDrive now control the market.

Veteran Yoruba comedic actor Adewale "Baba Elesho" Adeoye has cleared the air following viral online rumors about his health. Video footage showing a visible facial wound sparked unverified social media claims that the 67 year old actor was battling skin cancer. Setting the record straight in an interview with BBC Yoruba, Baba Elesho confirmed he underwent a successful minor procedure after an initial attempt at self medication at a local pharmacy failed. The Association of Nigerian Theatre Arts Practitioners (ANTP) confirmed the former president undergone a successful operation, is in stable condition, and is recovering smoothly.

Drama reached a boiling point in Big Brother Naija Season 11 during the Week 5 live eviction show as host Ebuka Obi Uchendu sent Sultex and Goddessa packing. The week featured a jungle theme twist where housemates were required to publicly name two contestants to save rather than evict, ultimately leaving 14 housemates vulnerable to the public vote. 

Sultex, a Lagos based dancer and choreographer, saw his standing impacted after a heated garden confrontation with fellow contestants almost turned physical, earning him a behavioral probation warning from Biggie a day before eviction. He exited with 4.77% of the public vote alongside Goddessa (5.02%), leaving the remaining contestants vying for the ₦160 million grand prize.

Thirty years after winning Nigeria's historic football gold medal at the Atlanta 1996 Olympics, long standing government promises are finally being fulfilled. Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani handed over official land title documents to Super Eagles legend Daniel Amokachi alongside teammates Garba Lawal and Emmanuel Babayaro. 

Governor Sani also directed streets to be named after squad members and unveiled progress on the ongoing reconstruction of the Ahmadu Bello Stadium. Scheduled for completion in November 2026, the 33,000 capacity venue will feature Nigeria's first FIFA standard hybrid grass pitch.
