Relationship tips

Stop abandoning yourself just because you’re afraid of losing someone.

Stop abandoning yourself just because you’re afraid of losing someone.

Read that again.

Sometimes, we become so desperate to keep a relationship that we start doing things we never imagined we would do.

You keep apologising, even when you were hurt.

You keep texting first.

You keep explaining your feelings to someone who already knows how you feel.

You lower your standards.

You accept inconsistency.

You make excuses for their lack of effort.

And slowly, without even realising it, you start abandoning yourself just to keep the relationship.

But here is something you need to understand:

**A relationship should not require you to constantly beg for the bare minimum.**

There is a difference between fighting for a relationship and fighting to convince someone to love you.

Fighting for a relationship means both people are willing to communicate, adjust, grow and make things work.

But when you are the only one fighting, apologising, reaching out, compromising and trying to keep the connection alive...

At some point, you need to pause and ask yourself:

What am I losing about myself just to keep this person?

Because love is not supposed to make you disappear.

You should still have your voice.
Your boundaries.
Your dignity.
Your friendships.
Your dreams.
Your peace.

Don't become so afraid of losing the relationship that you lose yourself first.

And please understand this too:

Choosing yourself doesn't always mean leaving the relationship.

Sometimes it means communicating your needs clearly.
Sometimes it means setting a boundary.
Sometimes it means stopping the constant chasing.
Sometimes it means giving the other person room to show you what they actually want.

You deserve a relationship where effort isn't something you have to beg for every day.

Love should be nurtured by two people.

Don't abandon yourself trying to keep someone who isn't making an effort to keep you too.

💬 Let's talk: Have you ever found yourself doing too much just to keep a relationship alive?
