WHY TRUSTING GOD MATTERS

Children often face moments of fear, disappointment, or uncertainty—whether it’s failing a test, losing a friend, or feeling left out. Teaching them to trust God in these moments helps them:

Develop resilience – Knowing that God is always with them gives them courage.

Make wise choices – Trusting God leads to decisions based on faith rather than fear.

Find peace – Faith in God’s plan helps them rest in His promises rather than worry.

Strengthen their relationship with God – The more they trust Him, the deeper their faith grows.

Trusting God does not mean life will be easy, but it assures children that they are never alone.

GUIDING SCRIPTURE FOR THE DAY

Proverbs 3:5-6 – “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”

This verse reminds children that even when they don’t understand why things happen, trusting God will always lead them on the right path.

WAYS TO ENCOURAGE TRUST IN GOD

Here are some ways to help children build trust in God:

1. Teach Them to Pray First – When facing difficulties, encourage them to pray before acting.

2. Share Personal Testimonies – Tell them stories of how God has helped you through hard times.

3. Read Bible Stories of Faith – Stories like Daniel in the lions’ den or David facing Goliath show how trusting God leads to victory.

4. Encourage Scripture Memorisation – Verses like Philippians 4:13 (“I can do all things through Christ…”) remind children that God strengthens them.

5. Celebrate Small Steps of Faith – Acknowledge when they show trust in God, whether in a small decision or a big challenge.

ACTIVITY: THE FAITH CHALLENGE

What You’ll Need:

A blindfold

A trusted adult or sibling to guide them

How It Works:

1. Blindfold your child and have them walk slowly while someone gives them directions.

2. Explain that trusting God is like this—sometimes we can’t see what’s ahead, but we follow His guidance in faith.

3. Discuss how this activity relates to trusting God even when they don’t understand what’s happening.

This fun exercise helps children experience what it means to walk by faith and not by sight.

REFLECTION TIME FOR PARENTS

Ask yourself:

How do I react when things don’t go as planned?

Do my children see me trusting God in difficult times?

How can I help my child develop stronger faith in God?

Heavenly Father, thank You for being a faithful and loving God. Help us to teach our children to trust You, even when life is difficult.
