TODAY'S TOPIC: Living for God Daily: Encouraging a Lifelong Commitment
Hello, dear parents,
Welcome to today’s episode of the Train up a Child Parenting Podcast. I am Pastor August, your daily parenting podcast host.
This week, we have been focusing on Teaching Children to Love and Obey God—helping our children understand that true love for God is expressed through obedience and daily devotion.
Today, we conclude with an important discussion on how we can encourage our children to live for God daily, making their faith a lifelong commitment.

WHAT IT MEANS TO LIVE FOR GOD DAILY
Living for God is more than attending church services—it is a daily walk of faith, love, and obedience. Teaching children that their relationship with God should influence every part of their lives will help them stay committed to Him as they grow.
A child who understands that God is part of their everyday life will:
Seek Him in prayer and Scripture, not just in difficult times.
Choose to obey Him even when it’s hard.
Show love and kindness to others as an expression of their faith.
Trust God’s guidance in their decisions, big and small.
GUIDING SCRIPTURE FOR THE DAY
Deuteronomy 6:5-7 – “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.”
This passage reminds us that faith should be a daily, natural part of our family life.
PRACTICAL WAYS TO INSTIL A LIFELONG COMMITMENT TO GOD
Here are some key ways to help children make their faith a priority every day:
1. Start and End the Day with God – Encourage morning prayers and evening reflections as a daily habit.
2. Read the Bible Together – Even short verses or stories help children build a love for Scripture.
3. Encourage Gratitude – Teach children to thank God daily for His blessings.
4. Model a Faithful Life – Show them through your actions how to trust and obey God consistently.
5. Surround Them with a Faith Community – Get them involved in church, children’s ministry, or youth groups.
ACTIVITY: THE DAILY WALK WITH GOD CHART
What You’ll Need:
A printable chart or a simple notebook
Stickers or checkmarks for completed activities
How It Works:
1. Create a weekly chart with simple faith-based tasks, such as:
Prayed today
Read a Bible verse
Showed kindness to someone
Thanked God for something
2. Each day, let your child mark or add a sticker when they complete a task.
3. At the end of the week, celebrate their efforts and encourage them to keep growing.
This simple activity helps children see that their relationship with God is ongoing and joyful.
REFLECTION TIME FOR PARENTS
Consider these questions:
1. How do I encourage my child’s daily relationship with God?
2. Do I model a consistent walk with God for them to follow?
3. What habits can we introduce as a family to strengthen our spiritual lives?
Ask God for wisdom and strength to make faith a daily priority in your home.
LET’S HAVE A WORD OF PRAYER
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your love and faithfulness. Help us guide our children to walk with You daily, making their faith a lifelong commitment. Give us wisdom as parents to lead by example and nurture a home that honours You. Strengthen our children’s hearts to love, trust, and obey You in all they do. In Jesus Name, we pray. Amen.
LOOKING AHEAD
Next week, we will explore Teaching Children to Serve and Love Others—helping them develop a heart for kindness, generosity, and godly service. Stay tuned!
