I remember vividly when I first began putting my ideas into books. It did not start with applause, grants, or endorsements. It started with a self-published pamphlet—humble, raw, and largely ignored. What followed almost immediately was resistance.

The haters came first.

Then the cynics.

Then the myopic and visionless voices who confidently told me I was wasting my time.

“You won’t go far with this.”

“Writing won’t take you anywhere.”

“Focus on something realistic.”

Some of these voices were strangers. Others were friends. A few were family. But they all shared one thing in common: they could not see what God had shown me.

So I ignored them—and I continued.

Today, fast forward years later, I have six books in circulation across Africa and Singapore. I have collaborated with institutions in Africa and Europe on writing and intellectual projects. I have been invited as a guest speaker and panelist at conferences across Europe and Africa. Along the way, I have received recognition and awards—not because I chased them, but because I stayed faithful to the work.

This is not a boast.

It is a testimony.

Every genuine calling begins in obscurity. The problem is that many people want the outcome without enduring the process. They want the stage without the solitude, the applause without the isolation, the harvest without the seedtime.

When God places a gift inside a man, He rarely announces it to the crowd. More often, He whispers it to the individual—and then watches to see if that person will believe Him over the noise.

This is where many creatives fail.

They allow external voices to overrule divine instruction. They mistake consensus for truth. They confuse popularity with purpose.

Understand this clearly: opposition is not a sign that you are wrong—it is often proof that you are early.

Satan rarely attacks what is insignificant. He uses doubt, discouragement, and familiar voices to derail divine assignments. Sometimes the loudest opposition comes from those closest to you, not because they hate you, but because your obedience exposes their complacency.

Vision makes the comfortable uncomfortable.

If you are truly called, resistance is inevitable. The question is not whether critics will come—the question is whether you will allow them to redefine your path.

Trusting God does not mean waiting passively. Faith is not laziness dressed in spirituality. When God gives a gift, He expects stewardship.

You must:

• Develop the gift

• Work the gift

• Sharpen the gift

• Deploy the gift

Divine purpose responds to discipline. Prayer opens doors, but work keeps them open.

I did not wait until everything was perfect. I published when resources were limited. I wrote when readership was small. I showed up when invitations were nonexistent. Consistency did what motivation never could.

To Young Creatives

Let my story remind you of this truth: your beginning does not determine your destination.

If God—through Jesus Christ—has placed a gift in you, it is not an accident. That gift is evidence of assignment. But gifts unattended will expire unused.

Ignore the naysayers.

Ignore the mockery.

Ignore the timelines of others.

Do not abandon your divine path to please people who will never walk it with you.

Stay faithful. Stay consistent. Stay obedient.

History does not remember those who quit early. It remembers those who endured quietly until their work spoke louder than their critics.

Your pamphlet may look small today.

Your idea may seem insignificant now.

Your audience may be invisible.

But if God authored it, time will validate it.
