For the longest time, I thought everyone was watching me.

Not in a dramatic way.

Just in those small everyday moments.

Walking into a room.

Passing by a group of people.

Posting something online.

Saying my opinion.

Even something as simple as speaking up during a conversation felt like a huge deal.

My mind would immediately start asking questions.

"What if they think I'm weird?"

"What if they think I'm too quiet?"

"What if I say the wrong thing?"

"What if they don't like me?"

"What if they're judging me right now?"

The funny thing is that none of these thoughts came from actual evidence.

Nobody had said anything.

Nobody was pointing fingers.

Nobody was staring.

Yet my brain had already created an entire story about what people might be thinking.

And because of that, I became smaller.

I spoke less.

I held back my opinions.

I analyzed every word before saying it.

Sometimes I would replay conversations in my head hours later, wondering if I sounded awkward... You know that feeling right?...

It was exhausting.

Imagine carrying an invisible audience with you everywhere you go.

Imagine feeling like every move is being evaluated.

That's what overthinking felt like for me.

But as I've gotten older, I've started noticing something.

Most people aren't paying nearly as much attention to us as we think... Matter of fact, nobody really cares

They're thinking about their own problems.

Their own insecurities.

Their own goals.

Their own fears.

The same way I was busy wondering what everyone thought of me, they were probably busy wondering what everyone thought of them.

And that realization was strangely freeing.

Because if people aren't spending all day analyzing me...

Then why am I spending all day analyzing myself?

Why am I making myself uncomfortable before anyone else even gets the chance?

Why am I rejecting myself before the world does?

So little by little, I started practicing something different.

I started showing up before I felt ready.

I started speaking before I had the perfect words.

I started posting before I was completely confident.

I stopped trying to control every possible outcome.

And something interesting happened.

I felt lighter.

I felt freer.

I laughed more.

I talked more.

I became more comfortable being myself.

Not because I suddenly became fearless.

But because I stopped treating every interaction like an exam.

I stopped acting as though the world was waiting for me to make a mistake.

The truth is, most people won't remember that awkward thing you said.

Most people won't remember that small mistake you made.

Most people aren't keeping score.

And even if some people judge you?

Life goes on.

It always does.

The freedom I was looking for wasn't in becoming perfect.

It was in realizing that I didn't need everyone's approval to exist comfortably in my own skin.

These days, whenever I catch myself overthinking, I remind myself of one simple thing:

The spotlight I'm imagining is usually much brighter than the one that's actually on me.

And honestly?

That's one of the most freeing realizations I've ever had....

And so if you have spent all your days dissecting every thought, every word and every action you take, thinking the world may be looking. Just so you know Nobody is, the world is busy with their own respective problems. You might as well just do whatever you like, when and how without overthinking it.
