‎Most people spend their whole life running from expenses instead of learning from them. They see a bill and call it a burden. They see a need and call it a problem. But if you look closely, every expense is trying to teach you something about wealth. The problem is not that you spend. The problem is that you spend without asking questions.

‎

‎Let me start from somewhere personal. Years ago, while I was managing my business, I used to dread the days I had to buy fuel for the generator. It felt like money disappearing into smoke. But one day, I sat down and did something simple. I started tracking exactly how much I spent on fuel every month. What I found shocked me. I was spending more on pms in six months than it would cost me to invest in a small solar setup that would last years. That expense, the one I hated, became the very data that pushed me into solar energy as a business. The thing I was running from became the thing that built me.

‎This is the pattern many people miss. Your expenses are not your enemy. Your expenses are your evidence. They show you where money is already flowing in your life. And where money is already flowing, opportunity is usually hiding nearby.

‎Think about it in simple terms. You spend on transport every day. Someone else is building a transport business from that same daily need. You spend on food every week. Someone else has turned that same need into a food supply business feeding hundreds of families. You spend on data and airtime every month. Companies have built empires from the very things you complain about spending on. The expense did not change. What changed was the person who saw it differently.

‎The Bible captures this principle beautifully in Proverbs 24:3 to 4, which says, by wisdom a house is built, and through understanding it is established, through knowledge its rooms are filled with rare and beautiful treasures. Notice it did not say through more money a house is built. It said through wisdom and understanding. Wisdom is simply the ability to see what is normally hidden behind what is normal. Your daily expenses are normal. But wisdom asks, what treasure is hidden inside this pattern.

‎Here is a practical way to begin this shift in your own life.

‎

‎First, track your expenses honestly for one month. Not with guesswork, but with real numbers. Write down what you spend on transport, feeding, data, electricity, and small personal needs. Most people avoid this step because the truth about their spending feels uncomfortable. But you cannot solve what you refuse to look at. I published a no-content book titled "Where Is My Money?" on Amazon aimed at helping you track these patterns for data.

‎Second, ask a simple question for every major expense. Is there a version of this that other people also need, and would they pay for a better solution. If you spend heavily on transport, ask if there is a transport service gap in your area. If you spend on feeding, ask if there is a food supply chain you could tap into on a small scale. If you spend on repairs, ask if that skill could become a service you offer others. And instead of starting a business, it could also be a pointer for you on what to invest your money on with other business owners.

‎Third, start small and start close. You do not need millions to begin. You need attention and consistency. I always tell people in the Dominion Guild Network, wealth does not usually begin with a large amount. It begins with a large amount of attention placed on a small, consistent pattern.

‎This is where I must be honest with you. This shift is not just financial. It is spiritual and mental. Many people are broke, not because they lack money, but because they lack the eyes to see what money is trying to show them. The Bible says in Luke 16:10, whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much. Your daily expenses are the very little. How you manage and study them determines whether you will ever be trusted with much.

‎I have come to believe that poverty is often a failure of observation before it becomes a failure of finance. You cannot invest in what you refuse to study. You cannot multiply what you have not learnt to manage. Every naira you spend today is either teaching you something or being wasted in silence. The choice is yours.

‎

‎Let me leave you with this thought. The market does not reward people who work hard alone. The market rewards people who see clearly. Somebody is spending exactly what you are spending, and yet one of you is building wealth from that same expense while the other is complaining about it. The difference is not the amount of money. The difference is the depth of thinking.

‎So today, I want you to do something different. Look at your last three major expenses this month. Study them honestly. Ask yourself, what is this expense trying to teach me. What pattern is hiding inside this cost. Then come back here and tell me what you found.
