This is the Five Eleven perfume I currently have, and it got me thinking about something:
Have you ever sprayed your perfume in the morning, only to feel like the scent has disappeared a few hours later?
Before you conclude that your perfume doesn't last, a few things can affect how long a fragrance stays noticeable.
Here are some simple things to try:
1. Moisturise your skin first.
Fragrance tends to evaporate faster from very dry skin. Applying an unscented moisturiser before your perfume can help give the fragrance a better base.
2. Try pulse points.
Areas like the wrists and sides of the neck are commonly used because they are warm areas of the body.
3. Don't rub your wrists together.
Spray and let the fragrance dry naturally. Rubbing can change how the fragrance develops on your skin.
4. Don't overdo it.
More sprays don't always mean the fragrance will last proportionally longer. You can end up with an overpowering scent instead.
5. Store your perfume properly.
Keep it away from direct sunlight, excessive heat and places with large temperature changes. Heat and light can affect fragrance over time.
And here's something else people sometimes forget:
A perfume smelling different or lasting differently on you compared with someone else doesn't necessarily mean yours is fake.
Your skin, body chemistry, temperature, environment and even how much you apply can affect how a fragrance smells and how long you notice it.
So before you blame the perfume, check how you're applying and storing it.
Do you usually spray perfume on your skin, clothes, or both?
