You need to know you (understand yourself), so you can know and unleash your potentials to the fullest.
How can a creation know itself; the clay does not have a right to dictate to the Potter what the Potter should make it into, it only discovers what it has been made to be and the functions, it has been made to carry out. So also, we discover ourselves: our identity, potentials and destiny. This explains why we do not decide; where or when we should be born, the family we should be born into and how we look like. We discover it.
Someone once said, " we do not have a say over where we come from, but we have a say over where we are and where we would be tomorrow". So, the summary of it all is that we need knowledge.
We need the knowledge of who we are and what purpose we have been made to fulfil. We need the knowledge about what we need to do and how we should do it to get to where we are meant to be in God's original blueprint for our lives. We need the knowledge to live well and interact with our society. The question is how do we get this knowledge?
It is very easy to know your purpose. All you have to do is to build up a relationship with God. It is when you have a relationship with God that He can reveal your purpose to you. For instance; it is a person you interact with that you tell about yourself and depending on your level of relationship with that person, you can share you secretes too. That is how it is.
