Here's something you probably never think about:

You're losing a tiny amount of water every time you breathe. 😳

No, I'm not saying you're secretly drying out every time you take a breath. 😂

The air inside your lungs needs to be kept moist. So when you breathe out, some of that moisture leaves your body along with the air.

You can actually see this happening on a cold day.

Breathe out and you'll sometimes see that little cloud in front of your face.

That's partly because the warm, moist air from your lungs meets the much colder air outside and the water vapour condenses into tiny droplets.

And you're doing this all day.

Every minute.

Even while you're asleep.

The amount of water you lose through breathing is usually small, and your body constantly replaces it through the food and drinks you consume.

But it's still a pretty cool reminder that your body is constantly exchanging things with the environment.

You're taking in oxygen...

getting rid of carbon dioxide...

and losing a little water at the same time.

Your body really is running a 24-hour exchange system without asking you to do anything. 😂

Quick fact: Breathing causes a small amount of water loss because the air leaving your lungs is humidified.
