I quit a job five days after joining. The work environment was not toxic, the pay was reasonable and I actually liked the job.
I had been desperately job searching for about 3 months before I got this job so I was in high spirits when I was selected for the position.
So why did I quit? Because I wasn't ready to work. Many youths are like me, quitting or sometimes depending on handouts or sponsorships. We all want the latest phone, a good wig, high-quality clothes and shoes, we want to live that Nepo baby lifestyle but for those of us who weren't born with a silver spoon in our mouth, those wants translate to hard work (unless we want to opt for illegal or unethical ways).
Soft life is not handed to us on a silver platter, we have to work for it. I came to this realization after quitting that job. I wanted the good pay - I had already started budgeting it 😂 but I was not ready for the work that came with it .
I have another job now but on the first week, I was drained and already contemplating sending in a resignation letter but I remembered that quitters never win. If I quit, how will I achieve my financial goals? I cannot give what I do not have.
We watch the 'How Far' trend on TikTok and think of how nice it will be to be born into generational wealth. Thinking about that alone is enough motivation to work harder so that we can provide our family with opportunities we never had. Let us be the reason why our nieces, nephews and children are called 'Nepo babies'.
So if you're like me and you're looking for soft life, let us work for it and enjoy our money - that's the sweetest reward
