One thing I have noticed is this. Your ex rarely comes back when you are still begging them.

They usually come back when you have moved on or when your life looks like it's going well.

There are a few reasons for that:

1. Curiosity
Once you stop calling and texting, they start wondering what you are doing and who you are with. Human beings don't like losing access to people they were once used to.

2. Ego
Some people just want to know they still have control. They don't necessarily want the relationship again; they just want to confirm they can still pull you back.

3. Loneliness
Sometimes life is not going well for them anymore. Maybe the person they left you for did not work out. So the easiest option is to return to something familiar.

4. Regret
People do make mistakes. But the real question is not why they came back. The real question is why they left in the first place.
Because if the reason has not changed, history usually repeats itself.

5. Timing
When you were always there, they didn't really see your value. But once your attention shifts, that is when they start remembering the small things you used to do.

6. Comparison
After dating other people, they start realizing that relationships are not as easy as they thought. Then they begin to compare, and suddenly you don't look so bad anymore.

7. Familiar Comfort
They already know you. They understand your personality and how to talk to you. Starting something new with someone else takes effort, but coming back to you feels easier.

8. They See You Doing Better
Sometimes they come back because you look happier, more confident, or your life seems to be going well. That can make them start thinking they made a mistake.

Sometimes people come back because they miss the benefit of being with you. Not because they have grown.

The important part of this is that

Someone coming back does not automatically mean they have changed.

Coming back and changing are two different things.

Before letting back in, ask yourself:

Did the real problem get solved?

Have they taken responsibility for what happened?

Do their actions actually look different?

Because if the reason has not changed, history usually repeats itself.

You are simply continuing the old one from where it broke.

Let's talk about it. Should people ever take an ex back, or once it ends, should it stay ended?
