I have been unwell, and it has reminded me in a very sobering way that good health is not something to take lightly. It is easy to assume strength until your body forces you to slow down.

I am not particularly fond of taking medication, and I tend to be anxious about health-related matters, but this experience has made one thing clear: ignoring symptoms does not make them disappear.

There is also the practical side of it,  the cost of treatment, the inconvenience, the disruption to routine. Those thoughts can make anyone tempted to delay and simply hope things improve on their own.

At the same time, life does not pause for anyone. Work continues, responsibilities remain, and people move on. I was even expected to show up despite not feeling well, but there has to be a boundary. Your health cannot always be the thing you sacrifice.

We have all seen or heard real stories of individuals who collapsed at work or suffered serious complications because they ignored early warning signs. The body usually speaks before it breaks down completely.

If you are someone who often says, “I’ll be fine,” I understand. But at some point, maturity is choosing responsibility over assumption. Listen early. Act early. Prioritize yourself without guilt. Because the truth is simple, if you break down, everything else will adjust. You are the only thing that is not easily replaced, and can be easily replaced too.
