Not every relationship can or should be maintained forever.

Some relationships become unhealthy despite repeated attempts to resolve problems.

Constant disrespect, manipulation, repeated betrayal, serious boundary violations, or ongoing emotional harm can be signs that distance may be necessary.

Walking away does not always mean there was never any value in the relationship.

It can simply mean that continuing it is no longer healthy.

People sometimes remain in unhealthy relationships because they are afraid of what others will say or because they have invested many years in the relationship.

But the length of a relationship does not automatically make it healthy.

Before making a major decision, it can help to consider the pattern of behaviour rather than focusing only on isolated incidents.

Where there is abuse, threats, or immediate danger, personal safety should come first and appropriate support should be sought.

Lesson: Knowing when to create distance can be just as important as knowing how to build relationships.
