“I wasn’t ready” is one of the easiest things to say.
It sounds mature.
It sounds responsible.
It sounds like you’re being honest with yourself.
A lot of us hide behind it.
We use it when something matters but feels heavy.
When a decision asks more of us than we think we can give.
When choosing feels riskier than waiting.
So we pause.
We tell ourselves we need more time, more clarity, more stability. We convince ourselves that once everything is sorted out, then we’ll act.
But life doesn’t wait for you to feel prepared.
While you’re getting ready, things keep moving.
People keep changing.
Opportunities keep passing.
There are moments you don’t lose because you chose wrong —
you lose them because you didn’t choose at all.
“I wasn’t ready” becomes expensive when you look back and realize that readiness never actually arrived. What arrived instead was distance, regret, and unanswered “what ifs.”
Sometimes, growth doesn’t come before the decision.
It comes because of it.
