As someone who doesn’t have a car yet, I’ve found my own survival strategy: keke (tricycle).

Honestly, if you really want to get home early, just enter keke. It might not be the most comfortable ride, but it’s definitely one of the fastest ways to beat Lagos traffic.

Yes, the way they squeeze and maneuver through tight spaces can be scary sometimes 😭, but one thing about keke drivers is that they understand the road. They know how to navigate traffic in ways that cars and buses simply can’t.

Another reason I prefer keke is the speed and efficiency. Unlike buses, whether it’s 18-seaters or 7-seaters, that keep stopping to pick and drop passengers, keke doesn’t waste too much time. It’s usually just a 4-seater, so once it’s filled, the journey continues immediately.

No unnecessary delays. No long waiting. Just movement.

At the end of the day, all I want after work is to get home safely and on time, and keke helps me do just that.

It may be a little crazy, but in Lagos, you pick what works for you, and for me, keke works 😌
