Former Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, will spend the weekend in Kuje Correctional Centre after an Abuja High Court ordered his remand on Friday, December 12, 2025.

Ngige pleaded not guilty, but the EFCC urged the court to keep him in custody pending trial. His lawyer, Patrick Ikwueto (SAN), opposed the request, arguing that the charges were not severe enough to justify detention and citing his client’s health concerns.

Since today is Friday, and the Nigerian court do not operate on weekends, Justice Maryam Hassan adjourned the bail hearing to December 14 and ordered that the former minister remain in Kuje until then.
