That random “grrrrrrr” from your stomach can be so loud that you start wondering if everyone around you heard it. 😂
But here's the funny part: your stomach doesn't only make noises when you're hungry.
Those sounds are mostly caused by your digestive system moving food, liquid and gas through your stomach and intestines.
Your intestines are constantly contracting in a wave-like movement called peristalsis. This helps push whatever is inside your digestive tract forward.
Sometimes there's more gas or liquid moving around, so the sounds become easier to hear.
And when your stomach is empty, there's less food around to muffle those movements, which can make the noises seem louder.
So that dramatic:
“GRRRRRR…”
doesn't necessarily mean your stomach is demanding food. 😭
It could simply be your digestive system doing its job.
Basically, while you're sitting quietly doing absolutely nothing...
your intestines are having a whole conversation. 😂
Quick fact: Stomach and bowel sounds are produced mainly by the movement of gas and fluid through the digestive tract as your muscles contract.
