The first time I went there, I honestly didn’t expect to find so many thrift options in one area. Once you enter the market, you’ll see different stalls selling okirika (thrift clothes) ranging from jeans and shirts to jackets, dresses, and even shoes.

What I like about Dugbe is that if you take your time to look through the piles, you can actually find very clean pieces at good prices. Some sellers even separate better-quality items and hang them, while others sell directly from large bales or piles where you have to search a bit.

Prices usually depend on the item and the seller, but it’s one of those places where bargaining is normal, so don’t be afraid to negotiate.

Another thing I noticed is that some traders bring out their best pieces early in the day, so if you want the better picks, it’s usually better to go in the morning.

How to Get to Dugbe Market

Dugbe is located in the central part of Ibadan, so it’s quite easy to reach from different areas.

Directions:

 • From Iwo Road, take a bus going to Dugbe and stop at Dugbe bus stop.

 • From Challenge, you can also take a bus heading to Dugbe directly.

 • Once you get to Dugbe bus stop, walk into the market area and ask any trader for okirika or thrift clothes sellers. Most of them are around the inner market streets.

Because Dugbe is a busy commercial area, you’ll also find shoes, bags, and other fashion items around the same market.
