Since I moved to Lagos, one of the first things I noticed about public transport is that you pay immediately upon entering. Unlike in Imo State or other places where you might pay after a while or when the vehicle is moving, in Lagos, the conductor expects payment right away.
My advice: always have small change ready. Some conductors are experts at “delay tactics,” and if you’re not careful, you could end up losing your change.
Protect your belongings. Your bag, phone, or wallet must be secure at all times. Even a brief lapse in attention, like when jumping on or off a bus or “keke” (tricycle), can lead to losing your items. Staying vigilant is key.
Mind your business. Some passengers may try to engage you in conversation to distract you.
They might even spark arguments to create confusion. Stay calm, polite, and focused on your space. Don’t get carried away, even seat battles are crazy and funny at the same time, but no loose guard 🤣🤣
