Some travel experiences can ruin your mood faster, have you ever experienced missing your luggage in an airport? Oh my gosh!! It can be so frustrating. If your luggage gets lost at the airport, don’t panic just yet, your bag may simply be delayed, sent to the wrong belt, or still in transit.

The first thing to do is report the issue immediately to your airline’s baggage service desk before leaving the airport. Give them your baggage tag, boarding pass, and luggage description. This helps them track your bag faster.

Make sure you collect a Property Irregularity Report (PIR) or any official complaint reference number. Without documentation, following up later can turn into a frustrating game of “we can’t find your report.”

Next, ask the airline about compensation or essentials coverage. Some airlines may cover emergency purchases like toiletries, clothing, or basic necessities while your luggage is missing.

Keep checking your baggage tracking status and save every receipt if you buy replacement items. If your bag is declared officially lost after the airline’s waiting period, you may be eligible for compensation depending on the airline policy.

To avoid future luggage drama do the following:
Put your name and phone number on your bag
Use a unique luggage tag or colorful strap
Keep valuables in your carry-on bag
Take a photo of your luggage before traveling.
And it will save you from going through missing luggage stress.
