Being a Christian as a Gen Z feels like trying to have a quiet conversation with God while your phone is buzzing and your mind’s roaming.
Notifications, expectations, pressure, comparisons, hustle, “Make it before 25”, “Work smarter, pray harder, rest later”.
And somehow in this society I’m expected to be holy, healed, rich, emotionally stable, spiritually inclined and have good success… Just because some people in my generation have done it. Sorry ooo!
Gimme a break!

Last year was just survival,
Last month my faith was on fire,
Yesterday it was deep prayers,
And today, it’s just “God abeg”!*

I doom scroll past “perfect lives”, “Gen Zs on fire for Christ” and the “Perfect faith aesthetic” and im like... so nobody is tired or struggling? Everybody is just strong in the Lord 24/7? Okay! Even with friends, where I’m supposed to feel equal and understood, they’re talking about how they’re trying to survive through school and all I can say is “Take care” and I can feel the pressure deep down for taking a gap year.
But when I feel alone in this world, I pick up my Bible and read.

So maybe faith isn’t supposed to be aesthetic,
Maybe it’s not always loud,
Maybe its not always easy and certain,
Maybe its choosing God when you’re tired,
Kneeling when it’s easier to stand,
Praying when you’re confused,
Choosing honesty when pretending will look more holy.

Being a Gen Z isn’t about being perfect. It’s about being true to yourself in a generation full of distractions, ambitions, noise and all. They say go with the flow but only if you’re in the right current, ‘cause if not, it,s gonna be one hell of a ride!

So this is me.
A Gen Z Christian.
Neither perfect nor polished.
Just trying to love God in a loud world, grow in a chaotic one and keep my faith in the middle of everyday circumstances.

And maybe you're trying too…
Till next time.
