I stopped a bike on a Sunday after the church service and the bike man waited for me to tell him where I was going. I told him and climbed the bike.
As we moved on, I observed that the bike man just rode through the road to my destination he did not border to ask me again for a reminder as to where I was going and it dawn on me that before climbing, I also knew where I was going. So, from this I understood the importance of setting goals in life.
Then I wondered; what if I did not know where I was going to, how would I have told the bike man. Just imagine me stopping a bike and telling him to take me anywhere. Anywhere was nowhere and then what about the payment of the transport fare? For every destination there is a price to pay.
So, I asked myself what do I want out of life? Where do I want to be in the next five to ten years? How do I want to be? What am I doing to be where I want to be? And now I want to ask you the same questions. People have propagated the wrong notion that whatever will be will be and when life throws pepper at you, use it to make pepper soup. As logical as these statements sounds, it is false.
Can you see why some people just live life each day without any goal to accomplish, or something motivating to engage themselves with. Setting goals in life helps you to grow in different angles of life, it also helps you keep track of your progress so you can celebrate your little wins and achieve more.
How can you explain how a man like Henry Ford became an engineer without a degree. He knew what he wanted, he knew what he was passionate about. Ford said, "I never had any particular love for the farm—it was the mother on the farm I loved." He made this statement after the death of his mother, and he was to become a farmer in her place.
To conclude, ask yourself; what do you want out of life in line with your passions? Think deeply about it; the steps you need to take to achieve it. Set goals; that is the desired results you expect to get from it and finally go ahead and score the goals.
