Somehow, in this life, if you’re not tired, you’re not trying. At least that’s what we’ve been taught. Wake up early. Struggle loudly. Endure everything. If you pause to rest, somebody will still ask, “You no wan hustle?”
But let’s be honest. We’re not lazy. We’re just tired of suffering for no clear reward.
Tired of waking up before sunrise to beat traffic, only to sit in an office where NEPA will still disgrace everybody. Tired of being told to “manage” when managing has become a full-time job. Tired of working hard, smart, and spiritually, yet still calculating transport fare.
Some of us are not running from work. We’re running from stress that doesn’t make sense.
Explain why rest is treated like weakness. Why enjoyment must come with guilt. Why peace of mind feels like a luxury item. This generation is not allergic to effort. We’re allergic to nonsense.
We don’t mind doing the work. We just don’t want our lives to be a permanent endurance test. No trophy. No medal. Just vibes and back pain.
So no, we’re not lazy. We’re choosing sanity. And if that makes us soft, abeg—pass the pillow.
