Being a Gen Z Christian is confusing sometimes because everyone is chasing sometime Money, success, clout, careers, soft life, “build your brand”, “Don’t be broke”. It’s very easy to get swayed amongst all these desires. And as a Christian, you’re trying to chase a future and still keep God in the picture without losing your mind in the process.
That’s literally my daily struggle.
Family expectations,
Money pressure,
Societal pressure,
Future pressure,
Even personal pressure.
These are all real.
The constant feeling of “I need to figure out what I wanna do with my life.”
I want to do well in life, I want success, I want to be comfortable, I want a future as clear and radiant as the Sun, I don’t want to struggle forever and I don’t want to waste time. I want the typical soft life. But I also want peace, I want direction, I want a purpose and I want God’s direction and not just movement.
Sometimes I feel like everybody knows what they’re doing and I envy how sure and decisive they are.
This one is in tech,
That one is in business,
This one is blowing on Instagram,
That one already has a “plan”.
And I’m here like… So God, where is my square root?
As a Christian, that pressure hits differently, its not just about success. Its about purpose and alignment. Not just moving fast but moving right. The hard part is waiting, yeah;
Waiting for clarity,
Waiting for confirmation,
Waiting for God to make things clear.
They say do what waiters do and serve, but don’t you think waiters chose to serve? I mean, my Bible characters all had a life, a job, everything and they had it with God. Jesus was carpenter, Paul was a tent maker and Job was, God knows what but God blessed the works of their hands. They didn’t necessarily need God to choose a career path. So sometimes we wait on wrong things, instead of a career path ask for direction.
Rudo from Gachiakuta tried a lot of things before He discovered his love for fixing trash. So if you feel like you don’t know what to do then try a lot of things, any good thing! After trying a lot of things or you don’t wanna try at all and still feel like you’re lost, Give your life wholly to Christ. He will put you to good use, trust me!
Faith doesn’t always give you a full map. Sometimes it gives you the next step on a journey you decided to start with God.
So I’m learning to pray more than I panic,
Trust more than I rush.
And to grow at my pace.
I’m still ambitious,
I still have dreams
I still want to succeed.
But I don’t want success without direction,
And movement without purpose.
There’s always another way around it.
And I’m choosing God’s way.
And when we’re on the right path and it’s our turn to wait,
I hope we do what waiters do and serve!
Till next time…
