MY GHOSTWRITING JOURNEY ✍️
.
Today, I decided to briefly share my journey as a Writer.
If you've visited my profile before, you've probably seen where I wrote, "I'm a Ghostwriter."
You might have also noticed that I usually end many of my posts with that line.
If you've ever wondered what Ghostwriting is or who a Ghostwriter is, or probably asked how I started this journey, let me tell you my story.
My love for writing started a long time ago.
Right from JSS3, I developed a strong interest in writing novels.
I once shared how much I loved reading novels during my secondary school days. I read almost every novel I could lay my hands on. On some days, I could finish three small novels before going to bed.
Then one day in JSS3, I read a novel written by a JSS2 student from a neighboring school.
Immediately, something clicked in my mind.
I said to myself,
"If this student can write a novel, then I can too."
That was where everything began.
I started writing my own stories with pen and paper.
By SS1, I had completed two novels.
My dream then was simple.
I wanted to publish at least one book before finishing secondary school because my stories were centered around secondary school students, and I believed they would connect with readers my age and at the time.
By SS2, I had written three complete English novels and one unfinished Igbo novel.
My headteacher then helped me read and corrected one of the books, which is this particular one in the picture below.
I also took the manuscripts to a lecturer at UNN for proofreading.
I even went to a printing press to ask about the cost of printing and publishing.
I was that serious and very determined.
Then reality happened and disappointment set in.
My family told me there was no money to support the dream. They also felt I was always aiming for things that were bigger than me.
Sadly, I believed them.
I packed the manuscripts away and abandoned the dream.
It hurts so much.
Finishing secondary school without publishing even one of those books felt like watching my biggest dream disappear before my eyes.
But life has a funny way of bringing us back to where we truly belong.
Fast forward to 2021/2022.
A cousin introduced me to a writing course. The course wasn't cheap, but something inside me said, "Take the risk."
So I paid for it without knowing what the future held.
Then in 2022, someone reached out to me and asked,
"Can you write a book for me?"
That single question changed everything.
I had never written a professional non-fiction book before. Apart from the novels I wrote in secondary school, I had no real experience.
I was afraid.
Very afraid.
But I also knew that every expert was once a beginner.
So I accepted the project.
I gave it my best.
And I delivered.
That same year, I also worked as a writer on Opera News Hub before my account was eventually blocked.
From 2022 to 2024, my writing journey became very slow.
I lost confidence. I began to doubt my ability. I wasn't sure where to focus or how to build a career around writing.
At some point, I became tired.
Then came 2025.
That year became my turning point.
I had a serious conversation with myself. I reminded myself that I had a gift I couldn't continue to ignore.
I discovered something about myself.
I can write from morning till night without getting tired.
Ask me to face the camera and make videos for one minute, and I will gladly run away. 😂
But give me an idea and ask me to turn it into words, and I come alive. That's why you often see my posts come long. I function best as a Long-Form Writer.
That was the year I finally started making real money from my writing.
No, I haven't figured everything out yet.
I'm still learning.
I'm still growing.
I'm still building.
I'm nowhere near where I dream of being.
But when I look back, I smile.
The little girl who once desperately wanted to publish her own novel written for secondary school students within her environment now has a great potential of writing books for international audience around the world and earning in dollars.
For me, that is real growth.
So, what exactly is Ghostwriting?
A Ghostwriter is someone who writes on behalf of another person.
Books.
Articles.
Biographies.
Memoirs.
Scripts.
Stories.
Speeches.
Practically anything that can be written.
The ideas belong to the client (author), but the Ghostwriter brings those ideas to life while writing in the author's voice and style.
The client gets the credit.
The Ghostwriter stays behind the scenes.
And honestly...I love being behind the scenes.
It gives me joy knowing that my words are helping someone else's dream become a reality.
As I continue growing, I hope to explore even more areas of writing because writing is more than a skill for me.
It is something I genuinely love.
If there's one thing my journey has taught me, it is this.
Find your niche.
Develop your skill.
Keep learning.
Don't abandon your gift because life says "not now."
Don't abandon your dreams because naysayers says "you can't do it."
Let them see that you can do it and even more.
Sometimes, your dream only needs time.
The world is waiting for what you have to offer.
And if you ever need someone who can help bring your ideas to life through writing, my inbox is always open.
I'm fully available for Ghostwriting projects and other writing opportunities.

The picture below is one of the novels I wrote during secondary school.
After I graduated, I decided to print just a few copies because I simply wanted to see my story in book form.
I still remember the joy I felt the day I carried those printed copies home.
I couldn't stop smiling. 😊
Today, I can pick up that same book, flip through the pages, and remind myself that every great journey truly begins with a small step.
Each time I remember how I started, where I came from, the struggles, challenges and disappointments I faced along the way, where I am currently, and where I'm hoping to be in no distance time, it gives me great joy that I didn't totally quit, even when I had the opportunity and every reason to.
The future is greater. 🧡
