Last week Saturday, I told you people how I finally started jogging after procrastinating for three whole years. I also told you how one of my lodge mates practically dragged me out after I gave excuse upon excuse.
So today, let me tell you how my first jogging experience went 😂
Before that day, I used to think jogging was one very hard thing. Anytime I saw people jogging around school in the morning, I would quietly admire them and say to myself, “These people dey try oooo.”
I never knew that one day, people would also look at me and say the same thing.
So that faithful Monday morning, we walked down to where we would start jogging. My lodge mate looked at me and said:
“We will jog slowly so you will not get tired quickly.”
Me that did not know what was ahead just nodded innocently.
So we started.
We jogged and jogged and jogged.
To my greatest surprise, this same guy that was warning me not to get tired was the first person to stop and start breathing heavily 😂😂
Meanwhile, I was still moving with full energy 😉
Inside my mind, I was even asking myself, “Wait ooo, is this the jogging people have been hyping all this while?” 😂
I eventually stopped far ahead and waited for him to catch up with me. When he finally reached where I was standing, he looked at me with surprise and asked:
“Where did you get this energy from?”
Omo, I laughed ehn 😂😂
Because to me, we had not even started anything serious yet, but my guy was already fighting for survival 😭
We later walked back home, and honestly, I was not satisfied at all. I still felt like my body wanted more movement.
The funny thing is that I only agreed to jog that first day because I was bored of staying indoors every day during the holiday.
But after that first experience, I genuinely fell in love with jogging ☺️
Since school was still on break then, I started jogging every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.
And after that first day, I never jogged with that lodge mate again 😂. Not because of anything serious though. The guy is usually busy with work.
Now, I jog every Saturday, whether the weather likes it or not, whether my body accepts it or not 😌
These days, I make sure I jog for a complete one hour.
And sincerely, if anybody had told me before that I would be able to jog continuously for one hour without stopping, I would not believe it.
But now, even when I get tired, I challenge myself to continue until the one hour is complete.
One funny thing that happened during my first week was how other joggers started using me to motivate their partners 😭😂
I would just jog past peacefully and hear things like:
“See this girl, learn from her.”
“Your fellow woman is jogging without stopping.”
“Try and be serious like her.”
Omo, my shoulder became high small 😌😂
At that point, I even increased my energy because people had started looking at me like a motivational speaker of jogging.
Then when I posted videos and pictures from jogging on my WhatsApp status, some people came with their confusing questions.
They asked me why I was jogging when I am already slim.
According to them, jogging is only for people trying to lose weight.
I just laughed and continued my life 😌
If only they knew that jogging is not just about weight loss. It helps your body, your mind, your strength, your health, and even your mood.
Honestly, this jogging thing has helped me more than I expected.
Class dismissed for today 😉
Anyway, meet me next week when I will tell you some funny and strange things I have observed from fellow joggers so far 😂😂
That place is full of entertainment on its own.
Now let me ask you:
Do you jog?
Or have you also been procrastinating like I did for years?
This is your sign to start.
Your body will thank you later 😌
