Many people today view Christianity as “just another religion.” But this is a fundamental misunderstanding of what Christianity truly is. The distinction between Christianity and religion is not just semantic — it’s spiritual, eternal, and deeply transformative.
Christianity vs. Religion
• Religion is man’s attempt to reach God — through rules, rituals, philosophies, or traditions.
• Christianity, on the other hand, is God reaching out to man — through Jesus Christ.
That’s the key difference:
Religion is man-made. Christianity is God-initiated.
God in Three Parts — Just Like You
We often struggle to understand the nature of God — Father, Son, and Holy Spirit — because we try to approach it through human logic. But Scripture gives us a beautiful and simple framework: we are made in His image (Genesis 1:26).
You are one person with three parts:
• Body — the visible, physical part of you.
• Spirit — your life-force, energy, breath.
• Soul — your will, emotions, and personality.
God, in the same way, is One Being, yet manifests in three forms:
• Jesus Christ — God in the flesh (the body).
• The Holy Spirit — God’s Spirit who lives in us.
• Jehovah the Father — the soul of God, seated on the throne of Heaven as the Godhead.
So yes, Jesus Christ is God. And it’s not as complicated as many think.
Biblical Evidence That Jesus Is God
Let’s look at just a few of the many Scriptures that make this truth abundantly clear:

“Jesus said to them, ‘Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM.’”
(“I AM” is the same name God used in Exodus 3:14 — showing Jesus was declaring His eternal divinity.)

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God…
And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us…”
✅ John 10:30–33 (NKJV)
“I and My Father are one.”
The Jews picked up stones because they knew He was claiming to be God.
The Essence of Christianity
Christianity is not about buildings, denominations, or rituals. It is about a relationship with a living God who came in the form of Jesus Christ to reconcile humanity back to Himself.
Through Jesus:
• We don’t work our way to salvation — it is gifted to us by grace.
• We don’t serve a distant God — we have Emmanuel: God with us.
• We don’t perform for acceptance — we are accepted in the Beloved (Ephesians 1:6).
Religion is about doing.
Christianity is about what God has already done through Jesus.
Christianity is God seeking man, not man trying to earn God’s favor.
So let’s stop complicating what was made simple through the cross. Jesus is God. He came in the flesh. He died for us. He rose for us. And He lives in us by His Spirit.
