1. Driving Here Is a Different Sport

Having a driver’s license is one thing.
Handling Lagos traffic is another.

From danfo drivers to sudden lane switches, you need sharp reflexes and patience. If you can drive confidently here, you can drive anywhere.

2. Not All Beaches Are the Same

Lagos has plenty of beaches, especially around Lekki and Elegushi Beach.

Some are more expensive than others.

Always do your research. Call ahead if possible. Ask about entry fees and extra charges before you leave your house.

3. Third Mainland at Night Is a View

Driving on Third Mainland Bridge at night is something you must experience while you’re in Lagos. The view of the ocean from the bridge is immaculate

4. Hold Your Bag in Front

Whether you’re in a market or just walking on a busy road, keep your bag in front of you.

Phone theft is common. A small distraction can cost you a lot.

5. Shine Your Eyes

Lagos is a fast city. If you’re not alert, you can lose money, miss opportunities, or get taken advantage of. Stay sharp. Ask questions. Don’t be too trusting.

6. If You’re Lost, Find a Major Bus Hub

If you’re using public transport and get confused, head toward major connecting points like:
 • Oshodi
 • Ikeja Under Bridge
 • Obalende
 • CMS
 • Ojuelegba
 • Mile 2
 • Berger

From there, you can easily connect to almost anywhere in the city.

Living in Lagos requires grit and resilience but once you understand it, the city becomes easier to navigate.

What lesson did Lagos teach you?
