If you’ve ever driven during heavy rain in Lagos, you already know that where you position yourself can make a huge difference.
Some areas flood easily, some roads become gridlocked, and others still have steady ride requests with roads that are easier to navigate.
These are some locations I’d prioritize during the rainy season.
📍 Ikeja, Maryland & Airport Road
These areas usually have consistent demand from commuters and travelers. The roads are generally better than many parts of Lagos, and you’re likely to pick up another trip shortly after completing one.
📍 Ikoyi, Victoria Island & Lekki Phase 1
These areas stay busy throughout the day with office workers, residents, and people moving between meetings and appointments. Even when it rains, ride requests remain relatively steady.
📍 Yaba
With students, professionals, and businesses concentrated in one area, Yaba rarely stays quiet for long. It’s one of those places where getting your next trip is often easier than expected.
📍 Oshodi
It might surprise some people, but Oshodi can be a good place to work if you know the area well. There are several alternative routes that experienced drivers use to avoid heavy traffic, making it easier to keep moving.
📍 Surulere
Surulere remains one of my favourite areas to wait for trips. Demand is usually consistent, and many of the major roads are easier to drive compared to some flood-prone parts of Lagos.
