Anytime someone compliments my skin, I just smile.

Because the glow is not expensive. It’s homemade.

Here’s exactly how I make my body butter here in Nigeria using ingredients you can easily find in local markets or beauty supply stores.

What I Use
 • Raw shea butter
 • Coconut oil
 • Cocoa butter
 • Glycerin
 • Castor oil

You can get most of these in places like Yaba, Trade Fair, or even from small Instagram vendors that sell natural oils.

How I Make It

First, I boil water and pour it into a big bowl. Then I place a smaller bowl inside it. This is my simple double boiler method. No fancy equipment.

I add equal portions of shea butter, coconut oil, cocoa butter and castor oil into the smaller bowl. The heat from the water melts everything slowly. Stir gently until it blends properly.

Once everything is fully melted and mixed, I take it off the heat and put it in the fridge.

After it solidifies, I transfer it into a blender. This is where the magic happens. I add extra glycerin and whisk it until it becomes light and fluffy.

The texture becomes smooth, creamy and easy to spread.

Then I scoop it into a clean container and it’s ready to use.

How I Use It

I apply it right after my bath, especially when my skin is still slightly damp. That’s how I lock in moisture and keep my skin soft all day, even with Lagos heat.
