If you grew up in Surulere, you already know this place. And if you didn’t, let me put you on.

Akerele Suya Spot

I’ve been eating here since I was a kid. Back then, it was our go to evening treat. Fast forward to now, I went back recently and it still hits the same way.

The aroma alone will pull you in from the street. Freshly grilled suya, perfectly spiced, sliced hot, and served with plenty onions and pepper. That first bite? Tender, smoky, and properly seasoned.

What I love most is the consistency. Same location. Same flavour. Same standard.

You’ll find them at 1–5 James Robertson Street, off Akerele Street, Surulere, Lagos, Nigeria. It’s easy to locate, especially at night when the grill is fired up and the crowd starts gathering.

If you’re looking for suya that actually tastes like suya, not just meat with pepper sprinkled on it, this is the spot.

Save this for your next evening craving.
