If you’re visiting Lagos for the first time, these are some places I’d recommend:
1. Lekki Conservation Centre
Home to the longest canopy walkway in West Africa, beautiful nature trails, and plenty of monkeys that aren’t shy about getting close.
📍 Lekki
2. Nike Art Gallery
One of the largest art galleries in West Africa, with thousands of paintings, sculptures, and handmade crafts spread across several floors.
Best of all, entry is free.
📍 Lekki
3. Landmark Beach
A lively beach destination with restaurants, games, live entertainment, and plenty of photo spots.
Perfect if you want to experience Lagos’ vibrant social scene.
📍 Victoria Island
4. Lekki Arts & Crafts Market
A great place to buy Nigerian souvenirs like handmade bags, paintings, beads, wood carvings, and traditional artwork. Don’t forget to bargain with sellers before buying.
📍 Lekki
5. Jaekel House
One of Lagos’ oldest colonial buildings and a hidden gem for anyone interested in the city’s railway history.
📍 Ebute Metta
6. Jazzhole
Part bookstore, part record store, and part cultural experience.
If you enjoy books, music, and quiet spaces, you’ll probably spend a longer time here than you planned.
📍 Ikoyi
7. La Campagne Tropicana
A beautiful resort where the Atlantic Ocean, mangroves, and a freshwater lake meet.
It’s a bit of a drive, but it feels like you’ve left Lagos behind.
📍 Ibeju-Lekki
8. Shodex Garden & Mini Zoo
One of the Mainland’s lesser-known attractions.
You’ll find a small zoo, gardens, a swimming pool, children’s play area, and plenty of space for a relaxing afternoon.
📍 Ilupeju
A Few Tips for First-Time Visitors
-Leave early to avoid Lagos traffic.
-Carry cash as some smaller vendors may not accept cards.
-Dress comfortably, especially if you’ll be walking outdoors.
Lagos can be loud, busy, and unpredictable but it’s also one of the most exciting cities in Africa if you know where to explore.
If someone had just one weekend in Lagos, which place would you insist they visit first?
