Before putting up those partitions:

- Keep escape routes clear.

- Don't block windows that may be needed for emergency escape.

- Choose fire-resistant partition materials where possible.

- Upgrade electrical wiring if more people will be using the space.

- Install smoke detectors near sleeping areas.

- Make sure every room has good ventilation.

- Don't overcrowd the property.

- Follow your local building and fire safety regulations.

Extra walls should not create extra risks. A safe room is one you can comfortably live in and safely leave during an emergency.
