When I was deciding between Germany and US, I was really looking at the cost. Germany offers free education. The down side is you have to learn Germany which for me, is a fair bargain. 

Germany also has an amazing work-life balance. You hardly see someone from Germany coming online to rant about crazy work hours. 

Germany has well-defined pathways to citizenship, good health care and job security. The only thing I would say I prefer about the US is that they pay the highest salaries.
