Understanding Conception

Why I stopped assuming couples understood how pregnancy actually works

A couple once sat in my office, both in their early 30s, genuinely surprised to learn that pregnancy depends on four separate steps working correctly:

• Ovulation
• Fertilization
• The embryo traveling to the uterus
• Implantation

Like many people, they assumed that "trying" was the only variable.

Once they understood the process, their questions changed completely—from "Why isn't this working?" to "Which of these four steps might be the issue for us?"

That shift in understanding is often the first real step toward finding answers and getting the right help.

That's why I wrote Understanding Infertility—to help couples replace confusion with clarity before making important decisions.
