I tried living on ₦3,000 per day in Nigeria... here’s what actually happened
I didn’t plan this. I just looked at my account balance one morning and realized… I had to survive on a tight budget.
So I set a simple rule:
₦3,000 per day. No cheating.
Here’s how it went:
Morning:
I skipped breakfast most days. On the days I didn’t, it was usually bread and egg or pap - around ₦500–₦700.
Afternoon:
This was the real test. A decent meal (rice or swallow) already takes ₦1,000-₦1,500 depending on where you buy.
Night:
At this point, I had to choose - eat light or not eat at all. Sometimes it was just noodles. Sometimes nothing.
Transport:
This one shocked me the most. Even short distances can eat deep into your budget. Some days, transport alone took half of the ₦3k.
What I learned:
₦3,000 per day is survival, not comfort.
Location matters - prices change everything.
Cooking is cheaper, but not always realistic.
Small daily spending is what really drains money.
The hardest part wasn’t even the food - it was the constant calculation before spending anything.
If you’re earning low or trying to save, this is the reality many people are quietly living.
Have you ever tried something like this before? How much do you spend daily?
