A new mother once described feeling “hollowed out” by breastfeeding — exhausted, foggy, and barely keeping up.

As we looked at her rest, support, and overall nutrition, we noticed something simple: she was eating very little fruit because she didn’t consider it a priority.

We added simple options like mangoes, bananas, oranges, and papaya to her daily meals.

Fruit isn’t a cure for postpartum exhaustion, but it can contribute to hydration, carbohydrates, fibre, vitamins, and minerals that support a balanced breastfeeding diet.

She began feeling better over the following weeks alongside the other changes we made.

Breastfeeding increases nutritional demands, and eating well doesn’t have to mean complicated meal planning.

That’s one of the practical principles behind my guide, “Eat to Heal: Fruits as Medicine.”

If you’re breastfeeding and constantly running on empty, don’t ignore it. Look at your rest, hydration, overall diet, and support system — and seek medical advice if the exhaustion is severe or persistent.
