In the quiet, remote village of Nsukka, located in the southeastern part of Nigeria, lived a young girl named Adaobi, affectionately called Ada. The lush green fields and rolling hills surrounded a community steeped in tradition and bound by close-knit relationships. Nsukka was a place where everyone knew each other, and the spirit of communal living was deeply entrenched. The community has a lot of beautiful traditional heritage and wonderful dishes.

Ada was born into a family of six, and life had always been a struggle for them. Born into a poor family, she had grown accustomed to the harsh realities of life. Her father, Emeka, who was a retiree, hoped on his pension and manual jobs. He toiled on people's land from dawn to dusk, earning barely enough to feed the family. Her mother, Nneka, worked as a local trader, selling fruits and vegetables in the village market. Despite their tireless efforts, the family's financial situation remained dire. Not withstanding her family's financial struggles, Ada's parents encouraged her to pursue her education, hoping it would be her ticket out of poverty.

Ada was the youngest of four children and had always been the most academically inclined. From a young age, she displayed an insatiable curiosity and a remarkable aptitude for learning. While her siblings helped with farm work and trade, Ada could often be found with her nose buried in a book, eagerly absorbing every bit of knowledge she could get her hands on.

As she grew older, Ada's academic brilliance became evident to everyone around her. Due to her academic prowess, she consistently ranked at the top of her class, earning numerous accolades from her teachers. Her dream was to continue her education beyond secondary school and eventually become a nurse, a noble aspiration fueled by her desire to make a difference in her family and her community at large.

However, the harsh reality of her family's financial situation loomed over her dreams like a dark cloud. While her classmates talked excitedly about their plans for university, Ada remained silent, knowing that her family's financial situation would make it nearly impossible for her to further her education. Her parents, though well-intentioned, wouldn't afford the tuition fees for university. It was a painful realization, but Ada refused to let go of her dreams entirely.

One evening, as the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a warm golden glow over the village, Ada sat outside their small, mud-brick house with her older sister, Amaka. The two sisters had always been close, sharing a bond that went beyond mere sibling affection. Amaka, who was married and lived in a faraway town, had come to visit the family for the weekend.

"Ada, you mustn't lose hope," Amaka said, gently squeezing her sister's hand with a smile. "You are too intelligent and determined to let your dreams slip away. We will find a way."

"But how, sister?" Ada replied, her voice tinged with frustration. "Papa and Mama are struggling just to feed us. How can we afford university fees?", she added with tears rolling down her cheeks.

Amaka's eyes glistened with determination and hope. "We will find a way," she repeated. "If there's one thing I've learned, it's that when you believe in something strongly enough, the universe has a way of making it happen."

True to her word, Amaka began to explore every possible avenue to help her sister. She spoke to her husband, Chike, who was a business man in the town. Just as Ada's hopes began to dwindle, her sister's husband stepped in to offer his support. Chike admired Ada's dedication and agreed to help in any way he could. He encouraged Ada to write the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) exam, the entrance examination for Nigerian universities, promising to help her when she has passed the exam and secure admission.
