Living or moving around Ikeja, I’ve realized Uber and Bolt are like two sides of the same coin, each with its quirks. Uber tends to be smoother, more consistent with driver ratings, and the rides usually feel more comfortable perfect if you want a calm journey and don’t mind paying a little extra. The downside? Sometimes it takes forever to get a ride during peak hours, and surge pricing can make your wallet cry. 😅
Bolt, on the other hand, is usually cheaper and faster to get the drivers know every alley, shortcut, and backroad in Ikeja, so you can sometimes dodge traffic that Uber would be stuck in. But let’s be honest, the cars can be hit or miss, the AC is a lottery, and occasionally you get a driver who thinks your “quick trip” is actually an extended tour of the city. 😂
For me, the trick is simple: check both apps, compare fares, and pick the ride that saves me time or money. During off-peak hours, I go with Uber for comfort. During rush hour, Bolt usually wins. Either way, having both options means I survive Ikeja traffic without losing my sanity… or my wallet.
