“Things Poor Nigerian Children Learn Earlier Than Others”
Some children learn ABC…
Others learn survival.
Poor Nigerian children often learn:
• How to act okay when there’s no food at home
• How to avoid embarrassment in school
• How to wear confidence even when they feel small
• How to mature faster than their age
• How to understand sacrifice too early
• How to stay quiet about pain
• How to manage disappointment repeatedly
• How to value little things deeply
• How to endure hardship without complaining
• How to become “strong” before becoming children
Many grew up hearing:
“Manage it.”
“Endure.”
“Be grateful.”
So they learned to hide emotions early.
Some became independent too soon.
Some lost confidence quietly.
Some became fighters.
Some became survivors.
Not every poor child lacked joy…
But many lost the chance to experience childhood fully.
