It was during my early days in Ibadan. New environment. New responsibilities. Big expectations from family. I was trying to look strong, but inside… I was overwhelmed.
One afternoon after lectures, I sat alone under a tree on campus. I had just checked my account balance — almost nothing left. Assignment pressure was piling up. Everyone around me looked like they had life figured out.
I smiled when my friends walked past.
But deep down, I felt behind.
That evening, I almost called home to say I wanted to quit. I felt tired of pretending I was okay.
But instead of quitting, I made a quiet decision:
“I may not have everything now, but I will not give up on myself.”
I started managing my time better, learned a small side skill, and stopped comparing my journey to others.
Sometimes growth is lonely.
Sometimes strength is silent.
And sometimes the person who looks calm is fighting the biggest battle inside.
Your pace is your pace.
Life is not a competition.
Have you ever smiled in public while fighting a silent battle?
