It was supposed to be the perfect Valentine's dinner in the City of Dreams, Mumbai. I planned a sunset picnic at Bandra's picturesque Fort, overlooking the Arabian Sea. The plan was to surprise Shashi with her favorite wine, a playlist of our favorite Bollywood tunes, and a homemade dinner she'd never forget. But as with most plans, things had a different script written.

As I was setting up the picnic blanket and unpacking the food (biryani, her favorite), I managed to spill an entire glass of rosé wine on her brand new white dress 😬. It was like Mumbai's monsoon hit the dress in seconds. Shashi's eyes widened, and for a moment, I thought I'd ruined the night.

But then she did what only Shashi could do – she burst out laughing. "Aye, this is a Valentine's to remember!" she said, giggling so hard she had tears in her eyes. I joined in, and we ended up having a full-blow food-fight-picnic in the middle of the fort πŸ΄πŸ’ƒ. Biryani flew in the air (much to the seagulls' delight), and wine stained the grass.

What happened next was straight out of a Mumbai street comedy. The fire department showed up thinking there was a fire in the fort (hello, burning grill pan πŸ˜… we were trying to BBQ some paneer tikka). The police had to intervene to clear the "emergency". We were in splits by then.

Shashi, claking her hands like a true Mumbaikar, ran to the cops and said, "Aapne hamara Valentine's roopaa diyaa!" (You ruined our Valentine's!) The cops laughed, clicked pics with us, and gave us a police escort out of the fort (just for fun).

We ended the night eating kulfi-falooda in our PJs at a local joint in Juhu. Shashi turned to me and said, "You know what? This was the best Valentine's I've had – because it was _us_ in crazy Mumbai."

Moral of the story: sometimes the best memories come from the worst plans πŸ’–. And in Mumbai, chaos turns into charm.

The Aftermath
The next day, Shashi posted pics of the "Valentine's disaster" on Instagram with the caption: "When plans go Mumbai-wards #ValentinesGoneWild". The post went viral. Friends bombarded us with memes. My aunt in Delhi called saying, "Beta, next time plan a quiet dinner".

Shashi's Take
I asked Shashi later, "Would you change anything?" She smiled, "Nah. I loved it. Mumbai showed us how to turn chaos into laughter."

We still laugh about it. Guess that's what happens when love's served with a side of _masti_ in this mad city 😊.
