A very simple reasonable question that is now affecting 50% of the youths (both male and female) in Nigeria.
Why is everyone worries about going to the gym?
Money? Time? The sheer repetition of doing one or all kinds of different sets of exercise at once?
Or are they just tired of doing something that hardly brings any results immediately?
Well, get ready for a healthy dose of real practical blueprint behind the typical brain and mind of average youths in Nigeria.
Will Exercise Put Food to the Table?
It is men that always asked me that question.
Since I'm a fitness coach. I sometimes goes around (Ogbomoso is my hometown) introducing the benefits of regular exercise to people. Hardly would you see a woman arguing with me about it.
But I don't blame men in my hometown. Not at all.
Except some of us that left home to explore, and the LAUTECH (Ladoke Akintola University of Technology) students, and some workers who learned in a book about exercise, well, the rest of the people are not that interested in that kind of thing.
How Far is the Gym to Your House?
This is where people got it wrong.
For you to be consistent in any endeavor, you must calculate the distance between you and that particular place.
Before I love going to the gym. But suddenly I stopped. The gym was too far.
I didn't even worried about the money I paid. I just stopped going altogether.
From G. B., or from Oja-Igbo to NEST HOTEL (the hotel is before LAUTECH main gate) naturally cost me #500 going and #500 coming back then.
So if I want to appear at the gym every fûçking dåmñ day I am going to be spending 1k for transportation and 30k per month.
No! Thank you. I am not interested. So I stopped. Even though I'm a fitness genius.
Forget Why! Your How Also Matters
If you don't make the process of your execution easy for you, you'd likely be thinking about quiting probably two weeks or a month to your target.
After quitting I decided to test out some other things at home.
Push ups. Weight lifting. Back flipping. Jogging.
Jogging.
Jogging.
I got it! I found the answer.
Not wanting to be spending money on transport gave me the reason to tried some other things.
And here we are, regular jogging gradually and consistently started turning to something I enjoyed doing.
Before you know it I didn't worry about gym anymore.
Push ups. Back flipping. Jogging.
Push ups. Back flipping. Jogging.
Rinse and repeat. Day by day. And finally the results started showing.
So should you go to the gym?
Yes and No!
Go if it is convenient for you, you like the environment, or you enjoyed using all kinds of different flavors of tools and machines.
Don't go if all you want is a peaceful lifestyle and ability to control your mind without adding more to already completed bûllshît workouts circulating out there.
For now that is my take.
As time goes on I can change my mind about gym, or about fitness altogether.
But until then, stay safe and stay emotional grounded.
