Back in secondary school, I was doing what most of us claimed we were *not* doing—dating 😅.

The funny part? The guy lived **directly opposite our house**. So seeing him every day was unavoidable. We had even created our own secret system. Anytime I was sent on an errand or needed an excuse to step out, I’d make a particular sound. Just one sound. Only the two of us knew it. Once he heard it, he’d quietly follow me to wherever I was going, and we’d gist along the way like undercover lovers.

One day, as usual, I made the sound. He followed me. We stopped somewhere a bit dark, talking and laughing, feeling very confident.

That was when life happened.

Out of nowhere, my dad passed.

He looked at us, smiled, and said:
**“Well done o.”**

😭😭😭

I nearly fainted. I wanted the ground to open and swallow me immediately. My soul left my body but my legs were still standing there. Fear held me.

Going back home felt like walking to an execution ground. I delayed. I prayed. I rehearsed lies that didn’t even make sense. But when I finally gathered courage and entered the house…

Everybody was there.

My dad.
My mum.
My brothers.
My sisters.

All sitting down.
All quiet.
All staring directly at me.

That was the exact moment I knew—I was finished.

What happened next? Let’s just say the beating I received that day entered history books. Till today, my body remembers it. Ironically, that beating did **not** make me break up with the guy. If anything, it strengthened the relationship for a while 😭😂.

Secondary school love was something else.

**Have you ever been in a situation like this before?**
Please share yours—let’s laugh together 😂👇
