There’s a strange phase where nothing is actually going bad.

You’re okay.
You’re surviving.
Things aren’t falling apart.

But you’re not okay either.

You go through your days on autopilot. Wake up. Do what needs to be done. Talk to people. Laugh when it’s appropriate. Then you get home and feel that quiet, uncomfortable feeling again.

Not sadness.
Not stress.
Just a feeling that something is missing.

And the annoying part is you can’t explain it.

When people ask how you’re doing, you say “I’m fine” because, honestly, you don’t know what else to say. Nothing is clearly wrong. There’s no big problem to point to.

Still, something feels off.

You start thinking more at night. Wondering if this is really it. Wondering if you’re behind, or just tired, or slowly losing interest in things that used to excite you.

You tell yourself you should be grateful. Other people have it worse. So you keep quiet and move on.

But that feeling doesn’t leave.

Maybe it’s not that something is wrong.
Maybe it’s that something no longer fits.

Sometimes life doesn’t fall apart to tell you it’s time to change. Sometimes it just feels empty enough to get your attention.

And that feeling you keep trying to ignore might be the most honest thing you’ve felt in a while.
