For a long time, I let people into my life too easily. Over time, betrayal and disappointment taught me a different way and what looks like guardedness now is really just wisdom I learned the hard way.
This has been a deliberate shift for me. I no longer give people quick , easy access to my personal space - emotionally, socially, or otherwise. I've learned to embrace solitude instead of fearing it, to read people and situations faster than I used to, and to guard my circle intentionally. None of that makes me difficult. It means I've learned to protect my peace.
If this sounds familiar to you, here's what I want you to know:
- You're not "too much" for protecting your peace. What some call guardedness is often just discernment earned through experience.
- Access is a privilege, not a right. Not everyone deserves a front-row seat to your life, and you're allowed to decide who does.
- Betrayal can either harden you or refine you. I chose to let mine refine how I love and protect myself - not shut it down entirely.
If these pattern sound familiar to you, comment "ME" below - you're not alone, and you're not difficult. You're simply intentional.
