If you spend enough time on the Mainland, you’ll realize there are quite a few interesting places to explore when you want to relax, hang out, or just experience the culture of Lagos. These are some spots I’ve come across that are worth checking out.

New Afrika Shrine
If you want to experience real Lagos nightlife and music culture, this place is a must. It’s an open-air entertainment center created to celebrate the legacy of Afrobeat legend Fela Kuti and is currently run by his family. The vibe there is always lively, especially during shows and live performances.

National Theatre Lagos (Iganmu)
This is one of the biggest cultural landmarks in Nigeria. It was built to promote Nigerian art and culture, and it has hosted exhibitions, conferences, plays, and different cultural events over the years.

Ikeja City Mall
If you’re just looking for somewhere to chill, Ikeja City Mall is a good option. You can watch movies at the cinema, eat at different restaurants, go shopping, or simply hang out with friends.

Computer Village, Ikeja
This is Nigeria’s largest tech market. You can buy phones, laptops, and all kinds of gadgets here. If you need to repair almost any device, chances are someone there can fix it. Just remember to shine your eyes because the place is always busy, and a lot of petty theft happens here.

Ozone Cinemas, Yaba
This cinema is a popular hangout spot for students and young professionals around Yaba. It’s a nice place to catch a movie after work or during the weekend.

Cafe Neo
If you’re looking for somewhere quiet to work, read, or just relax with a cup of coffee, Cafe Neo is a nice spot on the Mainland. The atmosphere is calm, and it’s a good change from the usual Lagos noise.

Kalakuta Republic Museum (Ikeja)
This used to be Fela’s house, but it’s now a museum that tells the story of his life and music. Visitors can see his clothes, instruments, records, and even his bedroom. It’s a great place to learn more about the history of Afrobeat and Fela’s legacy.

If you live on the Mainland, what other places do you like visiting? Feel free to drop your recommendations in the comments.
