Okay, this is something I didn't know for a long time.

Your body doesn't produce just one type of sweat. 😳

You actually have different types of sweat glands, and they don't all work in exactly the same way.

The two main ones are called eccrine glands and apocrine glands.

Eccrine sweat glands are found over much of your body. Their main job is to help cool you down. When your body temperature rises, they release a watery fluid onto your skin, which can evaporate and help remove heat.

Basically, your body has its own cooling system. 😂

Then there are apocrine glands, found mainly in areas such as the armpits and groin. The fluid they release is different, and when bacteria on the skin break down substances in that fluid, it can contribute to body odour.

So here's the funny part:

Sweat itself isn't always the main reason you smell. 😭

Bacteria on your skin can play a big role in producing that familiar body odour.

That's why two people can sweat after the same football match and somehow smell completely different. 😂

Your body is honestly doing a lot more than simply saying:

“It's hot. Start sweating.”

It has different glands, different jobs and an entire cooling system running automatically.

Quick fact: Eccrine glands mainly help regulate body temperature, while apocrine glands produce a different type of secretion that can contribute to body odour after interacting with skin bacteria.
