The NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange continued its positive run on Tuesday, January 6, recording another day of growth. The NASD Unlisted Security Index (NSI) rose by 1.08%, adding 38.63 points to close at 3,613.96 points, up from 3,575.33 points the previous day. Market capitalisation also increased, gaining ₦23.11 billion to close at ₦2.162 trillion, compared to ₦2.139 trillion on Monday.
Market activity picked up significantly. Investors completed 56 trades, a sharp increase from the 15 deals recorded the day before. Trading volume also jumped, with 1.4 million units exchanged, up from 193,973 units previously. The total value of trades climbed to ₦28.0 million, compared to ₦4.5 million on Monday.
Looking at year-to-date performance, Central Securities Clearing System (CSCS) Plc led trading by value, with 564,080 units traded worth ₦20.8 million. This was followed by Okitipupa Plc, which recorded 49,000 units valued at ₦10.9 million, and Geo-Fluids Plc, with 1.6 million units traded for ₦10.7 million.
In terms of trading volume, Industrial and General Insurance (IGI) Plc remained the most actively traded stock year-to-date, with 2.9 million units exchanged worth ₦1.9 million. Geo-Fluids Plc followed with 1.6 million units valued at ₦10.7 million, while CSCS Plc ranked third.
On the price movement front, the market recorded two gainers and one loser. Geo-Fluids Plc led the decliners, shedding 16 kobo to close at ₦6.78 per unit, down from ₦6.94.
Meanwhile, FrieslandCampina Wamco Nigeria Plc recorded the biggest gain, rising by ₦5.17 to close at ₦56.87 per share, up from ₦51.70. CSCS Plc also gained, appreciating by ₦2.74 to finish at ₦38.74, compared to ₦36.00 previously.
